Score & technical analysis
How is the 0-100 score calculated?
The score aggregates 25+ technical indicators across 5 families: trend (ADX, moving averages), momentum (RSI, MACD, Stochastic), volatility (Bollinger, ATR), volume (OBV, spikes), and divergences. The more signals converge positively, the higher the score. Two modes exist: Momentum (confirmed trends) and Phoenix (early reversals). Full details on the methodology page.
What's the difference between Momentum (M) and Phoenix (P) mode?
Momentum favors stocks in confirmed trends: breakouts, high ADX, bullish MACD. Ideal for trending markets. Phoenix targets reversals: bullish divergences, oversold recoveries, supports. Ideal for range-bound markets or recovery plays. Both scores are always displayed on each card via the M and P badges.
Does a high score mean the stock will go up?
No. A high score means multiple technical indicators converge positively at that moment. It is not a future price prediction. A stock with a score of 85 can decline if macro context changes, disappointing earnings are released, or the market simply corrects. The score is a sorting and prioritization tool, not a guarantee.
Is the score investment advice?
No. Cash Scanner provides technical information for informational purposes. The score does not account for your risk profile, financial goals, investment horizon or tax situation. It is in no way personalized investment advice. Investing carries risk of capital loss.
What is confluence?
Confluence refers to 3 or more technical signals from different families (e.g., trend + momentum + volume) pointing in the same direction. An isolated signal has limited predictive value, but several concordant signals increase the probability of a significant move. Cash Scanner displays "≥3 signals" and "≥4 signals" badges on relevant opportunities. See the glossary for more details.
Data & coverage
Where does the financial data come from?
OHLCV prices (Open, High, Low, Close, Volume) come from Yahoo Finance. Metadata (ISIN, sector, country, market cap) comes from Finnhub and EODHD. The full universe (~4,300 tickers) is rebuilt daily with quality filters (completeness, history, minimum price).

The scoring pipeline runs every night after US market close (between 2am and 6am UTC). Morning scores reflect the previous day's closing prices. There is no intraday scoring: Cash Scanner is designed for a swing trading approach (days to weeks).

In the Portfolio tab, click Import. Cash Scanner accepts broker PDF statements (Boursorama, Degiro, Interactive Brokers, Trade Republic, etc.) and CSV files. The portfolio module compares your performance to standard benchmarks: S&P 500 (US stocks), CAC 40 (French stocks), MSCI World (global stocks). The benchmark is selectable in portfolio settings.
